Cadiz Water Activist
Cadiz is a proposed project to extract water from the Mojave Desert to send to So Cal Cities: you can help us keep an eye out and advocate for the desert!
Cadiz, a proposed water extraction project in California's Mojave Desert, which threatens to decrease water availability to plants and animals in the desert. Although its proponents have faced opposition from many corners, they have a new strategy of co-opting local water districts that see an opportunity for increased water supply.
You can help us oppose this water grab, looking for volunteers to
- Monitor agendas for meetings of local water agencies and districts
- Attend meeting of water agencies and other local government units
- Informing fellow activists of actions by water districts and agencies
- Writing letters to advocate for sensible water policy for the desert
- Making calls and circulating petitions in support of water conservation
No special training is required, although familiarity with the desert and water issues is helpful. Travel to meetings of local agencies may be part of your activities.
