Looking to learn or improve your skills in digital communication and organization? Do you like to get geeky with data? We are looking for a Digital Communications Volunteer who can help with our Chapter emails, action alerts, online events, social media, and database management. We use Salesforce as our main database, which looks great on your resume. Learn a valuable program in a low stakes and friendly environment. Don't worry, we'll train you! The time commitment can be between one and three hours per week, and can be conducted remotely, and most importantly, you'd be helping activate our members and volunteers into climate action!
Responsibilities include:
- Help implement communications plans and messaging for Chapter campaigns across platforms including email, website, blog, Hustle (texting), and social media.
- Helps draft, build and send mass emails in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud system, including monthly e-newsletters, action alerts, and fundraising appeals.
- Provides communications support to volunteers.
- Help solicit content for bulletins, blog posts, social media, and print newsletter.
- Support Salesforce database management, including data entry and supporting constituent data requests.
Must-Haves:
- Extremely organized and efficient
- Flexability and attentiveness to competing timelines to meet deadlines
- Strong and persuasive writer and editor of content for a variety of formats
- Strong computer skills
- Comfort working remotely
Nice-to-Haves:
- A commitment to environmental and social justice, and the Sierra Club’s mission.
- Experience writing and delivering compelling pitches to media outlets.
- Experience in graphic design, audio, and video editing.
- Advanced equity skills and practice. Commitment to, and an understanding of, concepts of equity, justice, and inclusion in the workplace and a demonstrated ability to effectively work and collaborate across differences and identify and intervene in problematic dynamics across identity
This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, working under the direction of the Communications Associate.
Time: 10-20 hours per month (2-5 hours a week)
