Fundraising Committee Member
Work with the fundraising team and staff to develop and support a vibrant Chapter fundraising program.
The San Gorgonio of the Sierra Club is our local voice for the nation's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, and the only Southern California environmental group that engages thousands of volunteers to help people explore and enjoy the outdoors, protect and improve the environment, and elect environmental candidates to public office.
Our volunteers helped to establish the the Mojave Preserve and new Sand to Snow, Mojave Trails, and Castle Mountains National Monuments. We have worked to hold the South Coast Air Quality Managment District accountable for Inland Empire Air quality issues. Electrification of transportation, environmental justice, and land use policy are all priorities of our Chapter.
This volunteer will work with the Chapter Executive Committee tand Chapter Director to develop and support a vibrant Chapter fundraising program. Improving our fundraising activities is vital to our Chapter's continuing growth and strength. The fundraising team works to strengthen the Chapter by communicating our vision for the future and enlisting support from members and the public to make that vision a reality! Members of the Fundraising Team:
Develop and carry out projects, mentorship, curriculum development and training. Work with fundraising team to organize and implement fundraising events and activities big and small. Organize volunteers to participate in fundraising events. Work with staff and volunteers to communicate a strong and compelling case for supporting the Chapter. Develop and maintain donor/potential donor lists with donation records and individual interests. Ensures donors and participants in fundraising events are thanked often.
Desired skills and experience:
Ability to communicate the importance of the Sierra Club's outings and conservation missions. Ability to collaborate with other members of a volunteer fundraising team. Ability to develop relationships with, educate and cultivate potential donors in face-to-face meetings. Experience in nonprofit fundraising is an asset but not required. Location: San Gorgonio Chapter Time: 5-10 hrs/week
