Social Media Advocate
Our social media team educates and engages our supporters and the public about forests, their benefits, and the impacts of clearcut logging.
Do you have a passion for forests? Can you utilize Facebook, Instagram or Twitter to get attention?
If so, please join the social media team of the Stop Clearcutting California Campaign.
We educate the public about the importance of forests to climate change and water as well as the destructiveness of clearcutting using social media.
Clearcutting is the most destructive logging method, which involves removing all or nearly all trees and applying herbicide to completely eradicate remaining vegetation. In this way, a complex forest, that is home to a variety of flora and fauna, is replaced with tree plantations of single-age, single-species conifer seedlings. Tree plantations are not good habitat for wildlife and are destructive to water and do not advance carbon sequestration.
The Stop Clearcutting social team uses Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to educate about the importance of forests and the destructiveness of clearcutting. In 2019 our posts reached half a million people and doubled our followers on Facebook. This year we will we will target decision-makers and reporters and dialogue with the public in hopes of spurring them to action. We are especially looking for people with epxerience with Facebook and Facebook Groups.
