Houston Group Forestry Volunteers
The Houston Group is currently searching for volunteers with a passion for forest protection and restoration to serve on our Forestry Committee.
The Houston Sierra Club is looking for a volunteer who has a deep interest in the protection of federal forests. These federal forests include the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, Big Thicket National Preserve, and the Columbia Bottomland forests in Brazoria and San Bernard National Wildlife Refuges.
The goals of the federal forest protection program are: 1) Reduction of environmentally harmful activities 2) Gain knowledge about, get to know, and educate others about forests 3) Support collaboration, administrative actions, and lawsuits 4) Communicate the Sierra Club position for management of forests 5) Document the status of forests 6) Monitor and assess environmental impacts 7) Enjoy, have fun, and socialize while working to protect forests.
Current roles that need to be filled include: article writers, photographers, tablers, outings leaders, social media users, administrative and legislative lobbyists, and letter writers
No experience is necessary! A heartfelt and patient approach to learning and advocating for federal forest protection is preferred.
