Houston Group Hiking Trail Volunteers (Multiple Positions Open)


The Houston Group is seeking adventurous and motivated individuals for our Lone Star Hiking Trail maintenance team!


The Houston Sierra Club (Sierra Club) seeks volunteers to provide outings and trail maintenance on the Lone Star Hiking Trail (LSHT), the longest continuous hiking trail in Texas. The LSHT was conceived, by the Sierra Club in 1966 and has been laid-out, constructed, maintained, and protected by the Sierra Club and others since that time.

The Sierra Club is working to reconstitute its LSHT efforts and needs your help. The Sierra Club needs dedicated volunteers to fill jobs who love hiking and the protection of the LSHT and Sam Houston National Forest. These jobs include:

LSHT Coordinator, Maintenance Section Steward, Hike Leader, Assistant Hike Leader, Maintenance Volunteer, Photographer, Table Captain, Tabler, Writer, and Communications Captain.

Time: 1-4 hrs/month
