Climate Emergency Mobilization Team - researcher and writer for Local Climate Action Toolbox website content.

Sierra Club's National Climate Emergency Mobilization Team is expanding its list of local actions to reduce GHG emissions and enhance carbon sequestration.

Our changing climate and the resultant environmental and social disruption touches nearly all of Sierra Club's priorities. If you are like many members, you may feel eager to work with others to address the underlying causes of our climate crisis. The Climate Emergency Mobilization team can provide a direct connection to a growing movement of climate activists working to restore a safe and stable climate.

Shared Information and Current Knowledge to Build a Movement.

Our team is updating and expanding its web-based resource for climate activists. Our Local Climate Actions Toolbox presents examples of local climate actions (local legislation, agency rules, or community organizing) that reduce GHG emissions or sequester carbon. Our goal is to widely share these examples to stimulate and support activists in other locations. Each example includes a brief narrative description, links to published articles about the local action, contact information for the authors of legislation or agency rules, and other relevant information.

Do You Like to Do Web Research and Write?

Multiple volunteers are needed for online research and drafting brief paragraphs that describe and summarize local climate actions. The needed web research is ideal for volunteers with curiosity, internet search skills, and time to follow a lead to its source. For each local action, completion of our team's "submission form" will involve drafting brief narrative paragraphs, adding web links, and other information. Leaders from our core team will serve as editors and will approve content of the completed submission forms.

Qualifications:

  • Be a college student or college graduate.
  • Work well both independently and with other team members located across the country.
  • Be curious and skilled at web-based research.
  • Be cognizant of the causes and effects of the climate crisis, and of possible solutions.

Please be sure to describe your skills and interest in the “More About Me” section of your profile. This will help us evaluate your interests and background and determine how they would contribute to meeting our goals this year.
