Volunteers to support our Political Committee Team

The Toiyabe Chapter of the Sierra Club is our local voice for the nation's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization in Nevada and Eastern Sierra. The Chapter engages hundreds of volunteers to help people explore and enjoy the outdoors, protect and improve the environment, and elect environmental champions to public office that support our work.

The goals of the Toiyabe Political Committee are to elect candidates in Nevada who will support and promote environmental protection, raise public awareness about environmental issues and elevate the priority of these issues in the 2025 Nevada legislative session as well as federal and municipal races. We encourage Chapter members and other environmentalists to participate in the political process.

The Toiyabe Chapter Political Committee evaluates and determines candidates to endorse who will support Sierra Club values and priorities at both local and state levels. Team members participate in candidate research, interviews, creating questionnaires and evaluating candidate responses. The team fosters strong and sustained engagement in electoral activities as a key driver in accomplishing the Club’s mission.

At this time, we are especially interested in volunteers with experience, expertise, and/or a interest in the following areas:

  • Canvass for our priority candidates
  • Phone bank, write postcards
  • Plan and organize fund-raising events

We highly encourage all interested parties with diverse backgrounds to apply! Your time commitment will depend upon your availability.
