The Great Basin Group of the Toiyabe Chapter is managed by a dynamic team of activists who work to make a difference in our communities by advocating for Sierra Club values and priorities. The Great Basin Group has one of Sierra Club’s most active group outings schedules, with leaders trained, qualified, and knowledgeable about the area. The Group raises funding to support getting kids outdoors. It also follows and responds to conservation and environmental issues in the area.

Executive Committee members of the Great Basin group are selected by popular vote of Sierra Club members living in Northern Nevada generally above U.S. Highway 6 across Nevada. The Great Basin Group is one chapter out of four in the state of Nevada.
As leaders and decision makers of the Great Basin Group, it is important for Executive Committee members to contribute to the Group's cohesiveness and financial stability. For the Group to thrive, it needs an Executive Committee whose members are actively working to ensure the health and success of the Group.

Expectations: Understand and support the concept of "One Club,"" meaning that we work together, speak with one voice, and respect and support our different roles and responsibilities Be able to succinctly communicate to others about what the Group does and why it is important Attend (or sometimes call into) Executive Committee meetings monthly Work to recruit new members, retain members, and improve the diversity of Group membership Determine your role within the Group and do your best to fulfill that role Prepare for and attend the Executive Committee meetings; consider the interests of the entire Group and membership constituency when voting Support and contribute to efforts to improve the financial health of the Group Report back to their Group Executive Committee about your discussions and actions
