Social Media Team Leader


Seeking a Social Media leader to help define and implement the social media presence of our Grassroots Network team.


Our Climate Emergency Mobilization Team works to mobilize, expand, and accelerate local and regional climate actions to mitigate the Earth's destabilizing climate. The role of the Social Media team is to share links to our team's resources, newsletter and success stories on social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, and perhaps others.

While we welcome individuals who have spent time becoming familiar with the issues associated with climate change, applicants need not be highly knowledgeable with the subject in order to contribute to our effort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social media mastery: Bring social media expertise to our leadership team and guide a team of social media posters to increase our team’s visibility and guide viewers to our website and resources. Be knowledgeable about the audience of different social media platforms.
  • Content wizardry: Bring your creativity to educate and motivate through engaging graphics, video and other communication/media formats.
  • Collaborate: Review DRAFT posts, and work with and manage a team of social media posters to develop and post fresh content on a regular schedule.
  • Recruitment: review, interview, and select new members for our social media team.
  • Sierra Club: Membership desired but not required. Be willing to engage with our leadership team during monthly meetings to report on social media posts and to learn about our team’s and Sierra Club’s priorities.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Follows emerging social media trends.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing and supporting an all-volunteer team.
  • Understands the threat the Trump administration poses to the Earth.
