The Toiyabe Chapter seeks social media volunteers to join our communication team to assist in keeping our Facebook, X and Instagram pages updated with news, events, and photos related to our varied activities in Nevada and the Eastern Sierras. No experience necessary! This position is open to anyone with a passion for keeping on top of local environmental issues and an interest in learning more about making the best use of social media.

Primary responsibilities: Creating weekly blog ideas and writing compelling posts Crafting, designing and scheduling posts on Facebook, X and/or Instagram Staying up to date on news and events relating to Toiyabe Chapter issues

Optional additional activities: Taking pictures and creating graphics Pulling and compiling analytics on social media to determine best practices and testing new strategies Promoting original blog posts to other platforms and outlets Staying abreast of who is making waves digitally in our state Helping to compile internal resources, e.g. best practices for Facebook posts, guidance for Chapter blog posts, etc. Other tasks as assigned and day-to-day support for the communications team -- this will never involve getting coffee!

Knowledge and skills: Follows emerging web, technology, and social media trends Strong written and oral communication skills Can write in a manner that is accurate, witty, and compelling Camera, lighting and editing skills Knowledge of canva and other design/editing platforms Independent self-starter Knowledge and background with environmental issues is a plus, but not required Excited to help protect our environment by creating a digital buzz
